Prenatal Massage

What is it?

Nothing feels better than a massage — especially when your body is adjusting to the many changes that occur during pregnancy. Prenatal massage helps soothe the physical, mental, and emotional demands of pregnancy by relieving tension in the low back, hip, neck and shoulders, and calming stress and anxiety.

What can you expect in a prenatal massage?

First, you and your massage therapist will discuss how you’re feeling and what you’re going through. Based on that discussion, she will elect either a pregnancy pillow or sideline pillow for your session. Most of the time, the session will be full body but you can opt to do just the upper body since prenatal massage always uses a lighter pressure on the legs. Be vocal with your massage therapist to address concerns and get the most out of your session.

What are the benefits?

The biggest benefit of prenatal massage is stress relief, as stress can wreak havoc on the body — especially one growing a tiny human inside of it. Prenatal massage also lowers cortisol spikes and helps relieve the aches and pains coming from the growing and changing of the baby.
